Causes / Solutions
- You have likely been locked out of your website due to a firewall lockout.
- This lockout only affects you and the IP address that you are connecting to the internet from (usually your home or business broadband connection).
- This security lockout system is to prevent Brute force password attacks.
- Brute force is an attack (hacking) method that involves using an automated system to guess the password to your web server or services.
- Our server's hardware firewalls provide protection against brute force attacks.
- The lockout happens when you enter a password wrong too many times in a short period of time and as a security measure, our servers will then block you out for a certain amount of time from the website, and also prevent your computer from connecting to the server to send emails as you saw.
- This block usually only lasts a few minutes, but if you keep trying to enter a wrong password, it will block you out for a longer period of time, a few hours and then a full day.
- Sometimes you can be locked out of your website, by trying to load too many pages on your website at the same time, for exmaple if you open a lot of browser tabs with different pages of your website.
- If you think you have been locked out of our servers, please submit a support ticket to support@alloymarketing.co.uk or through your accounts area tickets page here to let us know and we will investigate for you
